I am replacing my 2007 Frigidaire Affinity that was lost to a few inches of water in my basement. So lets here from everyone, if you need to buy a washer for $800.00 or less what would you buy, and why?

OK, get ready to be inundated with a boatload of (sometimes conflicting) opinions. Here's mine:

The LG model WM2250C (approx. $725) gets very high marks from Consumer Reports, including scores of Excellent in cleaning performance, capacity, water and energy efficiency, and gentleness to fabrics. The score for freedom from vibration is Very Good, so it should be fine if installed on a wooden floor.

LG also has the highest score for reliability. I know several people with LG front-loaders and they are all very happy with their washers.

Why not another?

I would buy another Frigidaire Affinity. I'm more than pleased with our 2010 model.

Look for a used Speed Queen.

If not available get a new set!  While the price may be higher the SQ will be equal to 5 or more FD FL's.  Remember that these are rated to 10x the life of a FD.  Unfortunately  they are not cheap.  However they are a true commercial washer that will last you 30 years or more.

LG: Great but get one with an internal heater

I had an LG model very similar to the WM2250 and really liked it. The only issue was it had no internal heater. I ended up giving it to a friend who needed a washer because hers had died.

I got a similar model with an internal heater and am very happy. With sales and rebates, I ended up getting mine for about $450.

Check this one out: WM2650HWA

I think the whole steam cycle is a gimmick but this one has a heater. I've seen it for less than $800 around here (So. Cal) on sale.

why buy a washer with an internal heater me i do not see the use of having an internal heater in a washer i have a 2004 duet washer even do i do not like it du to the high wash time and lots of cycles i do not use i do not see the point in having a heater in a washer me when i have to replace my duet waher it will be with this model and with a topload washer with matching dryer.

I too would actually say get another Frigidaire, they have made great improvements in the machines from previous models......

but also consider, what was the cause of the flood in the first place as not to have this happen again.....possible to build a platform or pedestal to raise off the floor....as not to lose another machine from just a few inches of water...
