Hi guys! My 2000 GE washer has broke down. Tub basket hub is destroyed.
No complaints with that washer. We beat the heck out of it, averaging at least one large load a day often 2. So I wasted no time researching what's out there now and speedqueen seem to get the most consistently positive reviews. Sticker price scared me at first, but since my family of 5 give washers a good workout I figured I'd look for heavy duty. I read that new water and energy regs have made some newer washers less effective. Plus the made in USA factor was also a factor. I just ran 2 washes and am impressed with the quiet fast spin.
I happened upon this forum while searching for reviews.
My only trivial complaint so far is the cheapie plastic knob.
I happened upon the trick for increasing water level here. I got it just below the top row of holes. Should I crank it beyond that?
I would like to bypass the lid switch, but not sure I want to start removing panels yet. Any other simple tricks or suggestions appreciated welcome.

Second, congrats on a nice new machine......you'll love it and have it for years...

water level you have set it to is perfect......just the right amount....

now for the lid switch....no panel removal needed......behind the machine, just above the drain hose port....this pic will show you with a simple clothes pin, will allow it to operate with the lid open.....remove it, and your back to normal...nothing damaged.....do I have you lost?
