Well,
I have not restored any machines since last summer,so I have nothing new to share. Will post a few old photos of my stuff, then others can follow. Perhaps that will help the "cabin fever" of January.

1965 Kenmores, all done and still in the garage. Summer 2003

Remember this?

1943 Monitor Tabletop...my VERY FIRST vintage machine and impeller washer I bought when I was 15 right before I joined Applianceville, and the machine that started my descent into washer "geekdom". Previously I only had vacuums and while I wanted one in the worst way, I never thought I'd have an automatic, so I started out small with this "mini-washer". Yes, I still have it!

Taken in February 2004--almost 2 years ago! Can't believe it as it still seems like I put in the winning bid yesterday!

And this??

Beautiful machines Rick, by the way!! Love those turquoise Kenmores! :)

Here's one some of y'all will remember: Glenn (DADoES) and I cleaning up his recently found (at the time) Frigidaire WO-65 Unimatic!! While my ugly mug is unchanged, my hair's gotten a little longer...

Post# 105698 , Reply# 7   1/25/2006 at 19:06 (6,662 days old) by westytoploader ()
Last one, for now!

My 1978 Frigidaire 1-18 taken May 2005, one month after I picked it up and started on it. I was finished with the mechanical work and it was ready to wash, but it wasn't anywhere near perfect cosmetically. This Fall it received a nice "makeover"...current pictures of this machine are in my album.

Austin, If you post a "before" you gotta post an "after" otherwise you let too many people hanging on the edge in cyberspace! Now lets see an after of the 1-18 on here! (:

Here's how it looks now, with new control panel thanks to Greg M. and added window lid! :)

That 1-18 turned out just great! The control panel is one thing that has to be perfect for me! And the window lids are always the "icing on the cake" for any machine front,or top loader!

rick-- A standing ovation for your turquoise '65 LK set. Stunning!

austin-- I'm completely jealous of your restored 1-18. It's a beauty---and the moon roof in the lid is very cool. The 1-18 really proved that Frigidaire was going to play second fiddle to no one in the capacity dept!

Thanks

Thanks for the post, Rick, I read that yesterday was the most depressing day of the year. Seasonal depression and all that, so maybe that's why the posts on the other forums.

This spring I'm getting at least one of my washers working. It's great to see the progress others are making.

Rick, you have the coolest machines! The Hawkeyes will need to take a trip road trip one of these days to meet up with the Hoosiers!

Thanks for the nice comments everyone...Now the general idea was for us to post some photos of the machines ALREADY in our collections. So far Austin,Peter, and I were the only ones that have. Some have only one or two vintage machines, then others have TONS!! Where are they?

the Hawyeyes.... I like that! very fitting (:

The 1960 Maytag 160 & 741c dryer. I gave it a burnerotomy and made it an electric dryer. Not the exact match for this washer, but this has to be the quietest HOH I've ever heard.

And YES, peeking into the Matyag corner - I have a DD Kitchen Aid electronic control washer. This is actually a very impressive washer, many nice upgrades in the KA laundry line from their WP counterparts. The "fit and finsh" of the machine is outstanding. And what to my wondering, awestruck eyes should appear? The water level display has a blinking light that shows the current level as it's filling. I love early laundry electronics!

Robert, I would love to see some detailed photos of the 1957 Kenmores. They are just outstanding!

Greg, Love your Maytag corner! Those dryers are SOOOO quiet! looks like all you will need is the pushbutton control assembly for the dryer. Should come your way sooner or later. Perhaps someone here will come across one for you. I will keep my eyes peeled too.

Almost bought a used KitchenAid fridge a few years ago,but it was too wide for my space. :( I was impressed with the quality of that fridge also.

Greg, wonderful rearrangement...love the Maytag pair side-by-side!! Also good to see you kicked out that "new plastic unmentionable" in favor of the electronic-control KitchenAid. Approximately what year is this one?

Where did all this leave the nice '54 SQ pair? You didn't kick them out to the garage, did you? ;-) *ducks and runs*

PICS

I love looking at all these pics you guys have. I was wondering if you have any pics of a 1970's Kenmore like we had while I was growing up. It was probably BOL or MIL machine with a dark grey control panel and a gold/orange colored agitator. TIm

Hey Rick,

Love the machines: they look fantastic! I'm pretty sure we here in Oz don't have any machines with lights....we sure missed out! I could be wrong of course.

And Gansky: love your collection too!

rickr--- Do you know if the TOL GE 14-lb. machine had three agitation speeds, or is the above model the TOL? I can recall a friend who had a GE of that vintage (tall console light, like yours) but I seem to remember three agitation speeds.

I love the size of the filter pan on your machine because you can still see the load turning over. And talk about recirulating power! A great machine, no doubt.
