Notice in the specs that it does NOT have "Auto Load Size Sensing Technology." Also notice that the hoses are not included. That way if the hoses ever cause a leak or a flood which causes damage, Whirlpool is not responsible. |

I caught the "hoses not included" bit the other night at the Home Depot. I thought it was either the manufacturer getting cheap (think printers with no cable) or they were giving the accessory sale to HD. I didn't consider liability, although somehow I'd think there is a disclaimer somewhere in the fine print, no?

Phil, They do that with the dishwashers also. Installers have to buy the adapter for a hose to connect it so that no part of the water connection is covered by WP. |

These have been out for some time. WhirlTag changed the design of the control knobs - Whirlpool has all-black knobs now. Some (of the wash plate) top loaders also come with a dedicated Deep Water Wash cycle that is no longer part of the Heavy Duty cycle.
Pictures are up on Whirlpool's Digital Library. |

Looks great imo, until you pop the hood. The corkscrew shredder agitator is a deal breaker for me. Yes I know everyone uses them now (except SQ). |

Why would a person buy a Maytag when they could just buy a Whirlpool...Because the typical consumer doesn't understand about the mechanicals ... i.e. that the mechanisms are now the same for both brands (and currently or in the past -- Admiral, Amana, Inglis, Estate, Roper, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Kirkland). A friend has/had an early 2000s Kenmore pair. The dryer originally had the skid-type idler. A problem developed with it, he called for service. The assigned service tech replaced the idler and belt or whatever was involved, explained to him about the skid idler and subsequent revision back to pulley-idler. He was "outraged" and swore he'd never buy another Kenmore appliance. Well, he hasn't. When the washer went down three years ago (I don't know the details of what was the problem with it), he bought a ... ta da! ... Maytag. He didn't recognize that the mechanicals are the same as his previous Kenmore, didn't quite know what to say when I brought that to his attention last year, LOL. He still has the dryer far as I know. |

The TOL models remain unchanged, besides the differnet knob, and the Sanitary with Oxi cycle now is remaned into Sanitary with Oxi and Steam.
No changes for the front loaders. The WFW98 (?) got a Smart Grid button. This post was last edited 08/17/2013 at 17:31 |

Is that like what you get when you sit in a wicker chair in a bathing suit? |

Interesting nice new hole pattern in the wash basket.
I just don't like the wash plate belt drives.. models, the duel agitator belt drives are fine. They say that Maytag models offer more heft to the package. In the top of the line models are they still using TRUE F & P Magnectic Direct Drive motors .. The lock out feature really bothers me but seems like UL got them on that issue.. Why not a 3 to 5 min open delay so you can Check while its on button behind the control panel.. Lock out for normal consumers is making washday worse for average people who do laundry. Belt drive wash plates Gezzz. |

I replace the boards in these machines continually. These machines are plagued with problems. I usually am called to service them at about 1 year and a month old. Just out of warranty. More Whirlpool junk |
