I am moving here in a month and I am looking at washer's.My Dad offered the G.E. Harmony but I want a old washer. I want a old Frigidare Jet-cone or a Kelvinator splasher. They are just so hard to find for some reason. When I was in college I had a old Whirlpool that was a great washer but for the life of me I can't recall the model. It had a straight agitator with 3 wings that was on the bottom of it or maybe the agitator had wavy vanes I can't recall I was doing a ton of drugs during those days and fried all my brain cells save for two and they are fighting each other. It had a dial and 5 or 4 buttons on the left. That was a great washer and with 5 roommates it was always running. I will probably get lined up and blindfolded for saying this but I HATE HATE those dual action cork screw agitator that are on every new machine or old one.I think those are so BORING and I have never cared for the way the wash either. I took a pick of a old Whirlpool at a used washer place It's not that good of a pic because they had it in the back behind 3 other machines.I was wondering if anybody could I.D. this washer cause my old one looked kinda like this but had buttons on the left.I will get me a 1-18 but until then I do need something.

The one on the right is about 1992-1994 or so. The one on the left a little older. I have a 93'WP and the console colors are exactly the same as the one on the right. I love the corkscrew agitator. It'll pull down any laundry floating on top of the wash water with quite some power. |

I hate hate it.I think watching paint dry is more fun .I don't know why I have always thought they were so boring but my Dad don't understand why I have all these beautiful girlfriends that hang all over me and I prefer a sexy football player . So does this washer have that cork screw in it? Or does it have that 3 wing with like these half moon things on the bottom? |

keep in mind as I said.....you can always start out finding the washer first, like this Kenmore matched set....and then locate the agitator to switch out that dreaded Dual Action....and your good to go......keep searching their out there....this complete set is only 125.00

Thanks Martin That is what it is called the Winged Surgilator. I loved that washer. This washer place also had Maytag neptunes and a bunch of new H.E. washers which I thought was shocking but they looked kinda like a bomb went off in them for some reason. If you have any info on the sexy football player I am all ears They had a Kenmore just like that with the dryer for 75 bucks for both but if I got one of those I would rather it be the shred-all.. |

I think a jersey number is all that Wes can supply. I never understood what those wings did on that Surgilator. Did they help force items up the side of the tub to improve turnover? |

I noticed that also in some of the other washers I have seen Martin.I have seen some Kenmores the ones that don't have that Dual-(Boring)Action agiatator they have some fins on the bottom but that is about it.I guess those were made by Whirlpool also. That Whirlpool Super-surge was a great washer.I don't do laundry mats at all it creeps me out for some reason. This house we rented 5 guys but there was always somebody else slung up in there also so it was about ten guys or more. The washer ran non stop everyday just about three of the guys were football players so the machine got some use and it was free so that made it better.I don't think a machine today would make it through that at all,I was shocked today when I looked at a used washer place. Most of the machines are 3 years old and that is sad... I did look at a Maytag Neptune they had one for 80 bucks but I have heard some things about them. Some folks swear by them others say there junk. I should have said any Sexy football player not the.My first love was a Q.B. and you never get over your first love. |
