I have a Vintage General Electric Washer that my grandparents kept in there basement with a blanket on it forever and I don't know much about it so I decided to put it on ebay with a starting price of $45 hoping to get $50 for it and after one day I am blown away to see the price is up to $204.51 already. My question is what makes this washer so desirable? Im trying to download some pics of it but in case it doesn't come up the ebay item number is 181204723188. Thanks in advance for any answers.

This is a machine not often found these days and appears to be in good condition. Of course it is only worth what someone is willing to pay but I am not surprised at the interest. Best of luck in your auction and I hope you get a good price for it.

Looking forward to seeing more pictures inside and out. Does it have a filter pan that looks like this?

woops!

In looking around I realized there are 3 threads on this machine and one with a link to the ebay auction.

It looks like someone will be getting a fun new washer soon.

That's the same washer my mother's aunt had on the farm years ago. I remember they couldn't give it away at their auction in the 80's leaving it with the 48 GE range for the scrappers.

Thanks for all of the replies, I live around the Flint, MI area. I went out to my grandparents about an hour ago to plug the machine in and it runs just fine and I found the tag with the model and serial numbers. Model:605R3W Serial: YP130 820
I am so happy I put this on ebay everybody told me to take it a mile down the road to the scrap yard and I almost did. This washer appears to have an aluminum tray in it.

Item #181204723188 on ebay

Strange, but no matter what I do when posting the link to ebay just takes you to the main search page. It always worked to cut and paste before.

Well goatfarmer you can get this cool looking one for just $100 since everybody's looking at the washer-and it's older too.
Frigidaire only made by GM.

Somehow I just feel a vintage car is in the garage..
Waiting for the washer auction to finish...

I've never seen a GE washer with the timer on the left side except for the 1957 model. What year is this?

Wow! That's a lot of interest. The thing that cracks me up is the link on the item where eBay says you can buy a warranty thru Geek Squad. This washer is older than most of the techs there that would have no idea how to fix it anyway. LOL!
