Hi Everyone, we all know in the 80's/90's Ariston had a good amount of washing machines/ washer/dryers on the market, but i know nothing of any Ariston tumble dryers pre 2000 or if there even was any, cant find any pictures online. can anyone shed some light on this, did Ariston make seperate tumble dryers to match their washer counterparts?

do you mean Post 2000, ie more recently? I'm sure there were a few available, not sure we had any in the UK, as Indesit Company made Creda Dryers instead, alongside the Hotpoint Machines. |

I lived in Italy up to 1996 and I don't remember ever seing Ariston nor Indesit tumble dryers... lots of washer-dryers instead. The only Italian brand I can remember seing tumble dryers of (even when I was young) was Zerowatt later on absorbed by Candy. But there must have been some others I'm sure.
In fact, I remember that, being so unfamiliar with tumble dryers, having seen one in a shop, I was describing it to my mum as a washing machine with a huge drum, but I didn't like it cos' there were no holes on the walls of the drum :-P I guess my mum didn't pay too much attention to what I was saying and she dismissed my baffling statement by saying that the 1 we had was big enough for our needs. However, after a while, some1 shed some light on the matter and I decided to believe that it was no washing machine (mistery solved). I'm curious as much as you are to know if there was anything from Merloni (appliance division) in the 80's or 90's... hope some1 here knows... |

Dj-gabriele, I did mention Candy... I especially remember the Zerowatt dryers... and in the episode I was describing above I was rather young... although I wasn't referring back to the 60's as I wouldn't have been even a mere twinkle in my father's eye!
Also, in the south of Italy (where I used to live), dryers are not as popular as they would've been in the centre/north since the climate tends to be milder... by contrast, it would not be unusual to find many people owning a washer-dryer (single unit)... maybe cos' the climate is not always that mild after all (folks still don't want to admit it LOL)... even in the south! I still don't remember seeing evidence of any Ariston/Indesit branded dryer produced during last millennium :-O |

Ariston was sold in the Netherlands for quite a while under the Blue Air label. Here's a dryer for sale:
