Mine never does that. I did find a penny in it, though. Does the coin output diminish with age? If I cleaned-out the magic Lint Ejector, would it free-up the mechanism for coin chucking?

Let me know what I'm doing wrong ;-)

Actually coins could work their way out of the tub and, in one of the worst cases, a quarter could go down the hose to the pump and seal the opening. Then you had the task of bailing as much water as you could out of the machine before padding the area under the pump with lots of towels and removing the hose from the pump. The other case that did more damage was when a coin or other small object would lodge in the small gaps that exist at places between the front of the tub and the side wall with all of the drain holes in it. You can see them with a strong light. This makes a louder noise than the usual spinning which can sound like a house falling down and, eventually, will score a channel in the porcelain outer tub that then will rust. Rust in the machine makes it impossible to use chlorine bleach because it will leave rust spots on the white things you are bleaching.

Tom, that is interesting. I never thought about the impossibility of using chlorine bleach in a rusted machine, but of course, it would reduce the iron and cause it to go from the soluble to the insoluble (precipitate) form. Wow!

We had a westinghouse front loader while I was growing up. It was very comon for coins to get in the lens of the interior tub light. It took a lot of doing but you could get them out without taking it apart. (When I got old enough I wired the light to be on when the washer was running not just when the door was opened) My parents didn't care because by that time I was doing most of the laundry for the entire family. As long as they didn't have to spend time in the laundry room the didn't care what I did in there.
