Hi All,

I've got a Neptune 7550 that has all of a sudden started displaying Speed Sense Error when you start the cycle. Sometimes the door will unlock, other times it stays locked and you have to use the release to get the door opened.

When you go into the Diags, it is reporting the following
Diag 6 - Locked Rotor
Help 41 - Failed to Verify Tach

I'm assuming that the Help 41 is related to the fact that the drum isn't turning and that this is the same reason that the door wont open sometimes.

With the Diag 6 code, the Drum and motor seem to rotate freely, so I'm not sure what's wrong. Can anyone advise on what else can cause the Diag 6 error?

Thankyou in advance for your help

Cheers

Nathan

Hi, Nathan,

I'm assuming that this is a version of the MAH7500AWW washer that I have, a Neptune washer with touch screen controls WITHOUT a 'Get A Life' window in the door.

I believe you have a bad motor/motor control. What serial number is it? Diag code 6 is recognizing that the upper control is looking for motor movement and not sensing it thru the lower board and help 41 is basically the same, not seeing the tachometer sending rpm and direction. There is a kit for the older machines that upgrades the system to a MUCH better motor and control board. It's well worth it. Usually, you can tell by looking at your old motor control board (mounted in the bottom of the cabinet, on the right hand side). There is a fuse that might be blown and/or a fried triac or I.c. Sometimes not but they still quietly die. The upper control communicates with the motor control to check status of the motor and if it's spinning before unlocking the door. Since your lower board is most likely dead, the upper will not unlock the door... Part number of the conversion kit is 12002039 and is very easy to install. Do the belt while you're at it. 12001788 is the belt.

Let us know. You can also club email me for help if you need to. Anything I can do to help keep a version of one of the best washers Maytag made 'on the road'...
