..and sometimes after it fills, it will agitate once and stops. If I reset the timer to another part of a cycle that has agitation, nothing happens, but if I put in drain or spin, it does drain or spin. I replaced the timer and that solved that problem for a few weeks and now thinking its the lid switch, though when it spins and I open the lid and it stops spinning, so the switch works at least to stop the spin...any ideas before I throw more money at this thing?...(this was supposed to replace the Neptune I couldn't get to spin, so I am having the best luck!)...and found some oil on the floor

The lid switch does not affect agitation, except maybe on the last increment of the wash period of the Regular/Heavy cycle.

Check for a loose wire or burned contact on the motor harness.

Yes I would inspect the power connections at the motor and look for any signs of overheating, also look at the wires on the motors overload protector [ located just above the motor centrifugal switch ] for burned wires. You could also bypass the lid SW to be sure that something unusual is not happening there. A small oil leak on these washers is not a good thing in the long run but usually does not keep them from going for a while longer.

Jerry you are just going to have to start buying your vintage at a different place, I am still on the lookout for a good Neptune FL  stack washer, John.
