I was under the impression that the Cabrio/Bravo/Oasis machines did not use a transmission.....because of the reversing motor and splutch took its place.....but according to this video there is a tranny in there....I also thought maybe because this particular machine has the agitator, but in the Maytag.com video it is there also with the impellor......

or could it be just the direct drive machines have no tranny?

can someone clear this confusion up for me....

The F&P cabrio/oasis has a direct drive motor. There is also the vertical modular washer from Whirlpool, also with the Cabrio name with less capacity. It has both agitator and impeller versions. It does use a tranny, splutch, and has a belt driven motor. The "commercial" coin op and on-premises washers use the VMW design with an "agipeller" that has a center post like an agitator, but with shallow vanes at the bottom like an impeller.
