Depends on what you consider newer. Our AWS76 is circa 2007-08. |

My AWN 311 was purchased in 2009 and still going. Back in the 1996 I bought an Amana set that was made by Raytheon that was OK. The washer developed an annoying squeek during the agitation parts. The dryer was Ok it had the stainless steel 6.5 cu ft cylinder and it ran hot. Not much of a cool down on the dryer and the dryer would finish and the load was really hot to the touch.
My current SQ washer does well washing, extraction well not so much. I washed a load of towels and the washer took forever to come up to speed, even then it didnt, or lets say attempted to come up to speed. I took the load out and after the machine was finished and put the load into the front loader and right away I could hear the pump draining water off when the washer was spinning at 450 rpms. Once it got to 850 even more water was removed. The load of towels was half the weight after. Once the SQ washer croaks, I wont be buying another SQ washer. Just my opinion, your milage will vary. |

Sales wise, they almost sell themselves to people who've owned ancient Maytags and don't want the 'newfangled stuff'. As for their tech assist line, it is hands down a winner as far as ease of use, quick answers that actually make sense, and no bull help compared to companies like W/P. AWN412's seem very popular...

130+ new TLers, 30+ FLers and about 30 dryers, all have been resold to our customers except for the first FL washer I bought for myself about 8 years ago.
The TL washers and SQs dryers are very good performing machines and very reasonably priced, overall they are much better performers than GE FF and matching dryers and MT washers and dryers so they make great replacements for folks that want another traditional TL washer or a good simple dryer.
For myself since I can repair machines I will never have either the TL washer or the dryer. WPs DD washers are just better performers, they handle bigger loads and are more versatile, and again the 29" WP built dryers are just better dryers when comes to performance, and like Jamie, I can not stand having a lint filter that near the clean clothing.
As a service man I do like working on the FL washers and the SQ dryers, the TL machines are also easy for routine repairs but they will basically be throw away machines when you have main bearing and seal or transmission problems. |

I have a front-load, small door model Speed Queen washer built in '04 I bought a few years ago from a dealer NOS. Love it!
Just steering some friends replacing a Frigilux front-load washer toward Speed Queen. He wants a traditional top-loader after having mixed results with the front load Frigidaire.
Some mutual friends of John & Smitty and I here in the area replaced a Maytag Neptune washer with a SQ front-loader last year and they seem to be very happy with it.
= 2 + a possible 2 more (update in the next few days ;-) |

AWN432 that my wife and I bought after the mistake of a Maytag Neptune (made by Samsung) that we had. Washer does what it is intended for, get our cloths clean and that is all we wanted. |

Huebsch ZWN432 dryer and ZDE30 dryer 2009 models. Bought Oct 2009. Ab-So-Lut-Tely nothing to report. Had 2 unbalanced loads (recognized by hearing the machine sound) in that timeframe that were handled beautifully as one would expect. |

Get the SQ Front Load Washer, I would not buy ANY TL washer today, If you buy SQ the FL machine is only around $500 more and it will last twice as long as their TL washers and 3 to 4 times as long as any other TL washer you can buy today.
In addition the FL washer cleaner much better, rinses better and is easy on your clothing.
The water and hot water and electrical use are all about 1/3 of what the TL washer uses so the SQ FL washer will pay back the difference in initial cost long before it wears out.
I just bought the SQ SS FL washer last November, and am keeping my 16YO SQ FL machine as well, the older one has never had a single problem.

The older one also has the SS baffles. Though I hear the plastic baffles in the new machines are solid so there is no mold growth. |

Hi Patrick, There should never be any mold growth in any washer if it is used properly.
When I took a trip to Australia 3 years ago for 3 weeks when I came home I realized I had left my sheets in my SQ FL washer for 3 weeks with the door closed, when I opened the door the sheets smelled fresh and wonderful so they went in the dryer and back on the bed.

. . . Speed Queen front load machine at the wash-in in Beltsville, MD from the guru of washing machines. It performs flawlessly. I am amazed that there is no vibration when it goes into its fast spin. It's been a great deal for me.
