Found this on YouTube today. Pretty interresting and sneak, would like to have on beside our dryer (because it is boring to get done with all bedding washed in just 2*2 cycles, but the waiting aditional 4h for the dryer to finish up ALL the laundry).

I see AEG is now sporting the Electrolux logo. When did that happen?

AEG Home Appliances was sold to Electrolux in 1994 and the last washer Made in Germany was made in 2007. The logo and homepage changed a few times, I think.

So where are AEG's washers made now? I bought an Öko Lavamat in 1998 and it was still "Made in Germany" (obviously) and did not have an Electrolux emblem on it.

Most of Electrolux stuff is made in Italy at the former Zanussi plants

Mine says "Made in Germany" as well.

"[...] first washer/dryer with heat-pump technology."

The press release should probably mention which market Electrolux is talking about. Panasonic, for example, has been selling a heat pump combo for years in Asia.

Ob das gut geht....

"Made in Germany" has always been something like a sign for quality. Since AEG can no longer put "Made in Germany" on their washers, one wonders what this will do for the brands reputation...
Kind of like Bauknecht being made by Whirlpool. As I recall, Whirlpool is considered a less-than-premium grade washer in Germany, "American junk", if you will.

Cannot Say

But the non-German build AEG laundry appliances do not seem to be held in the same regard as previous incarnations. Least this is what one has read on various Internet sites.

Nope, since AEG became AEG-Electrolux, the insides are the same as Zanussi/Zoppas/REX/Electrolux/whatever machines.
Certainly better than many others like LG or Samsung but nowhere near as the previous generation of "proper" machines.
Even the last series of Miele washers is having lackluster reviews...

Sales of AEG appliances declined when Electrolux closed the last German factory. Unfortunately, the average German consumer does not seem to mind where his appliance is made so sales went up again, I assume.

Looking at consumer magazine tests, AEG appliances are average performers. Ovens and fridges/freezers seem to work pretty well but their dryers need a lot of time and the dishwashers don't clean as well as Bosch or Miele - same for Bauknecht/Whirlpool dishwashers, by the way.

I wouldn't want an AEG appliance.

Alex

I personaly would more like to get a dryer by E-Lux than a Whirlpool (in performance tasks). But the diswashers now are just as good as the BSH, and as they clean better, I would always choose BSH. And washer wise: NO WAY IN MY LAUNDRY ROOM AGAIN! It washes well, but spinning sounds horrible: Do you know the slightly scraping pitched noise motors/bearings on their way to the grave do? Our one sounds like it since the first day...

AEG performance

According to our consumer magazine, Whirlpool dryers are the fastest (and loudest) and Electrolux ones are amont the slowest ones. I only went for my Siemens dryer because I read much more positive feedback about BSH than about Whirlpool Europe.

In another test, a hybrid tub Bosch cleaned better than a ProClean (swirling spray arm) AEG.

Can't speak for their washers. I do remember that, some time ago, AEG washers failed the durability test because the tub cracked and leaked water.
