I saw this dryer on the New Zealand Fisher Paykel site and decided to email them to see if it was going to the introduced in the U.S. anytime soon... Here is their response!

Dear Mr Jeffery

Thank you for contacting the Customer Care Centre concerning our dryers. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for considering purchasing our innovative appliances and taking the time to email us.

They will be available in the near future. We are currently waiting for existing stock levels of current model to be used before these are released.

Wattage

Hi Guys,

I was looking at the AU version of the dryer, and it requires a 30amp circuit, which in Australia is reserved for Ranges and Airconditioning. In Otherwords its a very unusual power requirement. It also has to be hardwired. All US style dryers here are 15 or 20amp.

What amperage are the F&P dryers in the US?

In Australia, this makes it a very difficult item to install electrically as in 99% of houses its going to require a new circuit, if not a switchboard upgrade.

Delicated 240V 30A 60Hz circuit in NA

Most houses in NA have delicated 240V 30A 60Hz circuit for electric dryers. There is no problem in wattage provide that F&P could work on 60Hz supply.

Very clever machine. Horizontal axis drum with the axis running left to right (rather than the conventional front to back). The drum has a hatch similar to a Staber washer except it opens itself automatically when you open the lid.

The lint filter is circular and has a scraper that automatically intercepts lint and deposits it in a bucket in the left circular wall of the drum. All you have to do to deal with lint is to dump the bucket occasionally.

Now if only they had a way to make this with the equivalent of the full glass window on commercial dryers.

Repeat of video clips:

Drum Close

Drum Open

I don't think I've dumped the lint bucket in almost two months. There is probably Bob-lint still in it!
