Hello All,

Back in April 2013, you good people helped me decide to purchase a Speed Queen Washer and Dryer...

Well - We have a small issue...

About two weeks ago I noticed a crack in the control panel, top side panel on the washer -
Today I found the same crack on the same side on the Dryer -

There are only two of us, and my partner never really does the wash, so I know they were not hit with anything... Before I order two new side panels, does anyone think this is a warranty issue ?
Have anyone ever seen this before ?

Thanks for the help -
Dan P.

Here is the Dryer Crack...

Stress Fracture

Probably caused during handling when the delivery people brought it into the house.

I haven't noticed this on my Speed Queen set that is a couple of months old (yet).
However My 9 year old frigidaire did the same thing on the plastic bezel that is the frame for the control panel and detergent drawer. It is a shame they don't leave the products in the box until they get to the door.

Since you purchased the set less than 1 year ago, would it not still be under warranty?

They might have been screwed down too tightly or not in exact alignment. I would ask SQ about it.

Same Problem, Cracked Side Panel

My wife recently noticed a crack on the side panel of our new Speed Queen washer. It was flawless when it was delivered. This just happened.

I HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM

Were you ever able to get this resolved/fixed? I have the same exact problem on my Speed Queen AWN542S and ADG4BRG. The units are less then a year old and they weren't cheap, so this is very frustrating.

This can happen with the best of appliances and manufacturers, looks like its a stess point thats just given out with pressure.

Its vital and important that this information is fed back and reported to the manufacturers asap by everyone (under warranty or not) so they have the information and can work to develop a fix etc.....

Just want to let you know that I have had the same problem with cracks in the side panels of my SQ washer and drier. My units were under warranty, and after contacting my appliance dealer, and having their service contact call me, both machines were repaired without cost to me. Unfortunately, both machines are doing the same thing again. It took about one year after purchase to appear, and now it is showing up a year after the repair. It looked exactly like the photos that have been posted. Obviously a weak spot due to torque or stress of some type. The performance of the washer is not compromised, and I am otherwise very happy with the machines. I guess I will contact my dealer again.
