Made similar small table top washing machines like your Naxonette. They were introduced as "camp" washers (for use at cabins, camp grounds, motor homes, etc..) and even as a solution to apartment living especially during the cramped housing shortages of the WWII era and afterwards.
Basically you put your heated water and detergent into the lower chamber, either stirred or put the top on to mix; then placed your dirty duds into the thing and set the timer. When done you took out your laundry, wrung the water out/put through a mangle/wringer, replaced the dirty wash water with fresh rinse water, and repeat. Some brands came with a small wringer that attached to the side of the lower tub. This was probably a bit better than wringing out hot wash by hand. Considering how many diapers infants go through in a day compared with the capacity of these units you probably would be doing several loads per day; more so if you had more than one child at home still in the things. Again it probably beat doing the things by hand. |
