When did the Kenmore Branded DD machines evolve from 4 spray rinses in each spin to only a single in the final spin?

1998 Lady Kenmore

The 1998 Lady Kenmore (or Limited Edition) had 4 in each of the 2 spins.  Seems that over the years, it has teetered between 1,2, and 4 sprays.  Just wondering why that might have been...

Two here

on the "accidental" washer. I was looking for a dryer and CL seller really wanted to sell her matched set-hence how the washer came home. After haggling, I wound up with this washer-as well as the dryer (see my thread in the Deluxe forum). As best I can tell, it is a 1996 model. I did a load of my jackets in it, using the "normal" cycle and counted the spray rinses as you had me curious. I counted two spays, about 60-90 seconds in duration. They came after the rinse cycle. I probably will not keep this particualar machine as I am not in love with it. I have attached a picture of it. Interesting thread!!!

My Response to Whirlpool DD Spin

Why was my message deleted? I did nothing wrong, it's like cutting soap suds with a bottle of Downy. It makes me feel like a WCI Frigidaire washer: Nothing but WCI junk. I'm just a well known person at age 31 that loves to work in the Laundry Department.

Spin Sprays

It seems that the number of spin sprays was scattered across the board depending on model machine more than year of design or manufacture. I've always wondered if there was a logic behind this action.

I do know as water saving regulations started kicking in spin sprays started to become shorter ie from 20 seconds to 15 then to 10. Also on much latter models the half a tub drain and refill for the press care cycle was substituted for 2 spray rinses at the beginning if the first spin in the permanent press cycle. But to have seen the varied spin sprays on the DD from model to model to model. One thing though I never agreed with was spraying in the final rinse since I would thing that much was some of the softner away.

My early 1983 Kenmore DD has 3 sprays before the rinse, and 3 in the final spin.

Kenmore/ Whirlpool DD Spin Spray

The spin sprays before the Rinse were eliminated due to the new energy/water saving guidelines... I questioned the same thing and that's what I was told from a Whirlpool rep
