Hi,

I'm the brand new owner of a Speed Queen AWN432 washer. I've adjusted the max fill level to come up to just below the top row of holes (about 1" below the top of the basket), and I notice that even though the cabinet is level, the basket doesn't seem to be. The water comes up to the bottom of the holes in the front, but about 3/8" lower in the back, as if the basket is tilted forward slightly. Is this normal?

This is a great forum, BTW, I've enjoyed lurking and reading every post I could find on Speed Queen before taking the plunge.

Rebeccah,

Presuming you've already leveled the machine by tilting it forward a bit to lift the rear legs off the floor, then letting it come back down and level itself, the thread in the attached link may answer your question.

Funny you should mention that thread,

I was just looking at it.

That poster in that thread mentioned that his basket came back to centered position after a spin, and that it was off center while agitating. Mine seemed to be off all the time. But I hadn't even thought to see if I could move it, as was mentioned in another forum about a different brand of washer. The basket has a fair amount of fore-aft play, very little side-to-side play. When I push it back to a centered position, it stays there. If I push it back farther than centered, it drifts back to centered position. If I push it forward of centered position, it stays.

As long as I don't overload it with bathroom floor mats (don't ask), it doesn't seem to be unbalanced or have any abnormal vibration, and the top of the cabinet is level, so I guess I won't worry about it.

The other thread says that this is mentioned in "the manual", but I don't see it anywhere in the owner's manual or installation manual that came with it, so I assume it must be the repair manual that was being referred to?

My AWN542 tends to lean forward and to the right almost all the time. I push it back to center after each load so that it's centered when filling for the next load. This normal behavior for the machine.

Not to worry

this is normal for the AWN542....I have mine over four years, so does my mom, and my brother and sister-in-law....this is normal, I repeat, do not obsess, do not call a repairman, this is normal...enjoy your washer, and Happy Thanksgiving
