My parents own a 45cm fully integrated dishwasher which goes strong for about 11 years....
When they first had it, you wouldn't notice when it was on. It was completely silent.
Know, it works great, however you can listen it.

Why?

Do you think it is a problem?

Most likely problem is something's gotten into the pump.

Remove all the filters and check it carefully (with the machine unplugged).

I know we had an Bosch dishwasher of that era (Neff are BSH appliances too) and it made a rather odd squeaky noise after a few years. It was caused by a seal on the pump which had to be replaced. Basically it was just worn somehow and the high pressure water was making it vibrate like a very unpleasant sounding musical instrument!

Check the filters and check the spray arms for blockages (rinse them out under a tap).

Also, run the machine on a very hot wash with one of those dishwasher cleaner solutions that you can buy at the supermarket and this should eliminate any lime or grease build ups that might be causing noise in the pipework.

If that doesn't resolve it, you'd have to call out a Neff service technician I think.

It could be a problem with the wash pump (especially after 11 years of use).

MRX thank you very much for your reply.

We have super soft rain water and detergents (finish quantum) are way too effective, never get residue of lime or grease....
However finish or fairy dishwasher cleaner has been used regularly always through the years, last week as well.

Filters and wash arms are super clean and over all, the machine looks like the very first day.

The sound is not like a failure.
Is just like a normal dishwasher sound, but is was not like that at the beginning.

Is there any chance that the sound insulation is weaken due to age of the machine?

Is the door closing tightly ?

If it's a built in machine, it's possible that the door's not closing as well as it originally did or has become strained a bit.
Push the door shut tighter when it's washing and listen to hear if the sound has gone away again.

It's also possible the internal sound insulation has become wet which would reduce its effectiveness. It's usually foam of some sort.

I've never really seen the insulation deteriorate over time, but anything's possible!

I would strongly suspect though it's most likely the door isn't closing quite as tightly as it used to.

There was a common problem with some BSH pumps where they would develop a whistling noise after a period of time and needed a replacement seal. This doesn't seem to be your problem though.

Have you changed anything else in the kitchen recently like the cabinetry around it or new tiles or anything like that?

Tiles behind / under a machine can dramatically increase the amount of noise reflected back.

They boat a new panel from IKEA which is stainless steel.
It must be that!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, that would explain it. Stainless steel panels are really reflective of sound and can act like a big reverberation board.

If it's not a problem, just put up with it. Otherwise, use an alternative panel made from wood or even a tiled surface with smaller tiles will scatter the noise.

It has been a great machine through the years and I want to make sure it will last for years to come....
