I'm in an apt and want to cap off the hot side of the inlet valve of a front load washer and connect the cold side to the faucet via a portable kit, Will the new ones give me an error code if the cold water is too warm or if no hot water is connected?I know I would be ok with an older fridgidare gallery but I can't find one so I was thinking lg, any thoughts? There are a few used ones on craigslist.

Rather than capping the hot fill

Might be worthwhile trying to get a hold of a y-piece adaptor like the one linked below.

On some cycles the machine will be trying to fill from hot only and if this is capped it simply won't fill at all.

Not sure about the electronics side of it, it wouldnt be a problem on a European machine but I know the American ones have some funny ideas about water temperatures...

for the most part, it would be best to use a "Y" as mentioned....unless you know that machine well, it hards to say....but have some across many which would not operate unless both taps were connected, and turned on.....some of the sensing these do is unreal....I guess its for good measure....

now if you have a machine that does a "Tap Cold", that may override everything.....but hard to say until you have it hooked up and see what it does!

this brings a very good question for the future.....I have a sister who has only ever had a COLD tap for her washer, and is content with COLD only washing....but should the time come for a newer machine with this sensing....she may have to have a HOT tap installed, wether she uses it or not, just to satisfy the machine....

something like this might interest you......these were some of the better ones built and perform......but, may also have an auto temp control...although some have the option to turn that off, in which case it will work as you need without the "Y".....not a bad price for the set
