I'm sorry to hear that your top-loader is already acting up. What's the model number of the (presumably GE) front-loader they're replacing it with? I hope it has an internal water heater so you can get truly hot water when you need it via Allergy, Steam, or Sanitize options.
It's no secret that my machine of choice is a modern front-loader. Tumble agitation and low-water levels are a perfect pairing. The detergent solution is so concentrated that soils and stains are removed more completely. They also tend to handle large bulky items like comforters very well. Use a top-rated HE detergent like powdered Tide With Bleach (formerly known as Tide Vivid White + Bright) or liquid Wisk Original Scent, which has a small HE symbol on the front of the jug, but is compatible with both HE and traditional machines. It's what I use in my top-loading Speed Queen. Hope you'll share photos of your new machine when it arrives. |

That is amazing that GE did that for you. They really are stepping up to the plate and standing by their products like that. GE is all I buy now too. I love my new GE gas stove and the dishwasher we installed in the tenants apt is working out very well. That dishwasher cleans up a storm, and my stove has the best baking oven I have ever used in a gas range. Temps are spot on and the bake mode uses the broiler as well to balance out the heating. Convection baking produces the best cakes and cookies by pulsing the fan on and off at low speeds.
My GE Profile dryer has performed flawlessly since we got it. Very quiet and drying is fast and even. High temps dont fry the clothes and it never overdries the loads. Lets us know when you get the frontloader and what you think! |

Another video, caught it at the end of the wash phase, it switches to a low agitation speed at the end to help distribute the clothes evenly before the spin. CLICK HERE TO GO TO toploader1984's LINK |

Rick,
Corporate chicanery. You had me LOL on that one. Excellent use of the English language. Brian p.s. And French, as I study the etymology. This post was last edited 01/03/2014 at 06:29 |

You left out one of WPs current top brands, JennAir.
Back to the original thread topic, As an appliance sales and service professional GE does have good customer service in many cases, BUT I have not seen ANY GE laundry appliances built since about 1995 that were durable, many perform very well and get good initial consumer ratings, but none are very repairable or offer long term durability. Like it or not Whirlpool is still the world leader in home laundry appliances. The very best washer for long term durability and economical repair are Speed Queen Front Load Washers. SQs TL washers are good buys with decent performance, but are old fashioned in construction and performance. I believe the SQ TL washers will be about average in repair rate over their life span and most people will either get tired of them and replace them or they will be replaced when they have problems with the aluminium transmission or have main seal or bearing problems. SQ TL washers are not built for easy or economical repairs to the drive system, so few will likely ever get repaired. John L. |
