I believe I've downloaded all available service/parts literature pertaining to the KDI-17 from this site, but still cannot find the part number of the motor. Can anyone tell me what it is and what, if any, other Hobart models might have used the same motor? If I can't find the motor out of a KDI-17, I'm thinking that other models might have used the same one that I can use just as well. Oh, while I'm here, does anyone have a good motor that will work in my KDI-17 that they can sell me? :)

I'm pretty sure that all 17s use the same 1/2 hp motor..

I checked my Catalog of Replacement parts and KDC and KDI have the same part #, and I'm fairly confident that Superbas did too.

Thanks!!!

Thanks for the info. That helps my search tremendously

If anyone has one to sell, let me know. I've found someone on this site that will sell me his motor. Since he doesn't return from out of town for several weeks, I'd like to go ahead and secure an additional motor asap just to get me up and running until then.

Looks like there is one on Amazon.

...but sometimes they say they have something until to try to add it to the cart.  If they have it, it's $128 which isn't a bad price for a new one.

Worth a try if you can't find a used one at a better price.  This is part number 4171907 which I believe is the same as what's noted above.  Some sites list the old number and some list the newer one.

on e bay!

if I remember correctly the 15, 16, and 17's series all use the same motor.

I saw one just a couple weeks ago.
