A big thank you goes out to Gordon (kenmoreguy64) who was kind enough to send me some vintage Kenmore owners manuals to add to the Ephemera Library. This is the first of a series of these to come! Yay Gordon, thank you so much!
I just finished loading the 1964 Lady Kenmore manuals for both the washer and dryer into the Ephemera Library. They also include some of the lower end models as well. This is the first I've ever seen of these very rare owners manuals! I also added the owners manual to the 1961 Lady Kenmore Vacuum Cleaner as well and you can thank Fred for that one! Thanks for scanning this! Yesterday, I saw the '64 Kenmore 800 again (from the thread below) while I was with Paul for sale and I was tempted to buy it. I didn't...
I did buy another wall oven for parts and a top loading dishwasher (not a Frigidaire this time!), so I had to resist! CLICK HERE TO GO TO PhilR's LINK |

Another big thank you to Gordon, we now all have access to the owners manual to the very first Kenmore large capacity washer! Again this is the first time I've ever seen this manual. Their large capacity machine was first introduced in 1967 and I find it interesting that by 1969 they had not updated the styling on that machine, unlike all of their standard capacity machines that had been updated. I wonder if they were simply testing the waters as of yet to see if this large cap machine was going to be successful in the sales?

Robert -
I am really glad that these manuals are of interest to folks here and that we can bolster the Kenmore library. As to KM's first large capacity machine, you are correct that the first model was a 1967 issue which looked identical to this. As we can see, this is warmed-over 1963 600 and 70-series console styling. It was odd enough that this console came back four years later for the '67, but more weird still was that it hung around for several sub-models in 1968 which survived in production into 1972. I have not been able to find anything singnificantly different in regard to the three 1968 models, but the last one was availalbe until 1972 believe it or not, and had the steroidal Super Roto-Swirl and no '518' name on the console. Two 1972 models replaced the original '67/'68 machine, and two further 1973 models rounded out the early years of the Kenmore large capacity washer until the mild redesign and new dryers came in 1974 that put the large machine on the map permanently as Kenmore's bread and butter. Again thanks to Gordon I've just added the 1969 Lady Kenmore Automatic Washer Owners Manual to the library. What is particularly cool about this manual is the fact that the Vari-Flex agitator with the adjustable fins was just introduced and the manual has the instructions on how to properly use this agitator...
