Some winters, who needs a freezer?
1) Refinishers dream or nightmare: 1950s vintage GE chest freezer - $150 (Atlanta 30340)-atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/atq/4... 2) Vintage/antique 1950s Westinghouse freezer - $350 (Habitat Council Bluffs ReStore): omaha.craigslist.org/atq/42771005... vintage/antique 1950s Westinghouse freezer runs like new! From a one-owner home, this unique piece harkens back to a different era.Three pull-down doors all work and the bottom drawer allows for plenty of separate storage. Handle and name plate are immaculate. There is minor wear on the right side of the freezer about 12-inches up from the bottom, but that is the only visible impairment. The dimensions are 24 inches deep, 32 inches wide and 65 inches tall. The condition of the unit -- especially for its age -- is exceptional. The freezer can be viewed from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, at 1436 N. 15th St., at the Habitat for Humanity Council Bluffs ReStore. 3) Vintage Revco Chest Freezer - $190 (Twin Falls): twinfalls.craigslist.org/app/4274...; "Vintage Revco Chest Freezer. Not sure of age, but if I had to guess I'd say 1950-60's era. Compressor runs when plugged in, not sure if it gets cold. This in in the basement, and you will be responsible for moving/loading it. Super cool vintage freezer, no pun intended. First $50 cash gets it, no holds, and cash only. This will go fast. Contact eight 1 two 5 eight 3 zero 6 five 6 leave voice mail or text. Thanks!" |

Had a better idea, with those individual doors you didnt lose all the cold air when opening, and it didnt frost up as fast!much better than anything built today. |

Cory, we had around a 1953 or 1954 Norge chest freezer. It had the very same incandescent bulb warning for if power was lost based upon the owners manual I got from my parents when they sold the house in 2002. The door handle on the freezer door looked exactly like that Revco-but a different metallic color--but the area for the logo was exactly in that same place on the handle. Hmm wonder if Norge made that freezer for Revco.
