Evening people. Some of you may have seen the Quartz MK601 on eBay recently, and it was about 10 mins from my house, so I decided to bid on the machine. I have collected the machine, it's in a pretty good condition other than a small bit of rust around the door. I got it home, unloaded it and took it into the shed (That was a mission of its own!), spun it round and plugged it in. I plugged it in and the display came on, I opened the door and the display went to its -- when the door was open. The lights remained on, but there was a really strong smell of burning coming from it. So I switched it off and decided to take the lid off of it. Inside, the machine was riddled with condensation, all over the shell and on the wires. I found where the smell was coming from (The PCB board area). Now, here is where I need your help. I have left the dehumidifier on outside in the shed overnight in the hope of taking the damp off the machine. I am going to remove the fascia in the morning and inspect the board. But, I have a fear that the damp is playing minimal part of the smell, and could be something else. I would like you to comment on what you think is up with the machine, tell me how I could at least try to rectify the fault and where I could by spares cheapish as money is pretty tight!

The seller said it was his parents machine and they were having a new kitchen, and that they used it for a load of bedding about 2 weeks ago and it worked fine. It had been stored in a garage, then outside for about an hour before I picked it up. So fingers crossed its only the damp!

Any ideas on any other faults it may have are greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance!

Will post pics tomorrow!

Thanks!

Chris.
