My 1-18 timer on my washer is rather hard to turn, like stickey or well, just hard to turn.

Anyone have experience or advice with lubrication to a mechanical timer? The do's and dont's would be nice to know.

I'd rather not shop for a timer motor again.

Thanks!

Steve

Steve --

Cory and I had the same issue with the timer on the recently aquired 1-18. He shot some contact cleaner on the shaft, and after a few rotations, it not only turned with ease, but we were able to turn it on and off without pulling way to hard! LOL

I agree with Ben, Contact cleaner is definately the way to go if you are spraying inside a timer. You can buys it at radio shack or Antique Electronic Supply. (www.tubesandmore.com...)

Thanks...will definitely have to spray the both of my 1-18 timers down with contact cleaner as it was a bit stiff to turn as well when I was using the old panel. The current timer is much more smooth-turning but I'd like to see what kind of an improvement it will make on this one!

I had a friend use WD 40 on a Norge timer, and ended up getting a new timer, because the contacts arced, and fused together.
