My Maytag 806 washer and dryer had no bulbs installed when I got them so I searched the forum to find the proper size bulbs and starters. I've put in the new bulbs and starters but the console lights still will not work. The dryer light did come on and flicker briefly and then went out. I could not get the washer light to come on at all.
Any suggestions?

Are the starters the right size for the bulbs? They say on the starters what size bulb wattage and lenght they are for. Also is this new or used bulbs and starters? are the ballast transformers good? Bill,

Thanks for the help Vacosaurus.

The bulbs and starters are brand new. I got an 18 inch 15 watt bulb for the washer and a 24 inch 20 watt bulb for the dryer. The starters for both lights are FS2. Are there different size FS2 starters? If so, that may be the problem.

Or the ballast transformers may be bad as you mentioned. If the bulbs and starters are all new and the correct size, then the ballast transformers probably need to be replaced.

It's rare (but not impossible) that these ballasts fail.  I would check for loose wiring connections before I replaced the ballasts.

Thanks Kenmore71. I will check the wiring first.
