I don't know where the seller got the idea that these date back to 1947.  I can guarantee that the house they're coming out of isn't older than mid-'60s.  In 1947 that part of town was covered with orchards of almost every type of fruit imaginable, for as far as the eye could see.

 

There were bazillions of these two GE appliances used in 1960s housing developments all over this general area.  They show up on local CL on a regular basis.  Just give it time and your favorite color will come along.
