Well they did list it in the free section. People usually do that when they just want something gone. I got a really nice A502 Highlander that way out of Santa Monica.

my apologies malcolm, i'm sorry about that.

d-jones:

i didn't even notice that it was under the "free" section.
someone for sure is probably going to get this than. i emailed the seller to see if they would hold it for me until i made a trip to california. but if it is, like you said, in the free section cuz they want to get rid of it, i might be "out of luck" on this one too.
LOL....

oh well, we'll see what happens??

keep your fingers crossed for me!!!

just got an email from the seller.....

hippiedoll's profile picture
they still have the washer but they need to get rid of it quickly because construction & remodeling is starting at the house in a few days. they have to have everything out of the way since it's a total remodel.
they said they would have to pay someone to move it for me & then pay to have it stores.

i would love to get this washer but i don't think i am able to go get it. and it's free!!! it's just all happening too quick & too far for me to just jump & get it.
:o/

Rossmoor is too far to attempt making the trip in the '50 GMC, or I'd be going after it.  So close, and yet so far away.

a 1950 GMC???! very cool!!! i LOVE old cars!!!

for me, san francisco is too far to just take off & go in a 1999 dodge ram truck. i don't doubt it will make it. but i would definitely need some days to drive there from tucson. i wouldn't be able to just do a trip like that without some kind of planning.
:o/

Hey Hippiedoll,

I have a truck and Rossmoor is only 2 hours from me...I could certainly pick it up for you next weekend and store for you until you're ready. I could even meet you in Fresno/Bakersfield to at least get it sorta half way to Tucson..? Please let me know cuz this looks to be a TOL 'Tag! You can email me at toddmetcalf46@yahoo.com if you'd like me to help.

Let's hope

. . . that if nobody can get there in time, member-in-self-imposed-exile and serious Maytag man qsd-dan is watching the CL ads and will pursue this machine.  He's just down the road from where it's located.

Here's my truck.  It made some runs up to Oakland when Nate lived there, but Walnut Creek is almost twice the distance and the most direct route involves some steep grades.

And it has -- including a two-door monitor top -- but in recent years only within a 40 mile radius over flat terrain.  Just within the past week I've detected a noise that sounds like it's coming from deep down inside and it has me concerned.  All I can do is keep driving it and see if it worsens to a point where it can be diagnosed.

update....

hippiedoll's profile picture
thanks kitty.

but i did contact the seller & when they told me they needed to get rid of it quickly, to start construction & remodeling & needed everything cleared out of the way, i knew there was no way that i would be able to make a trip that far on a moments notice. and i let the owner know i wasn't able to go without more time to arrange the trip & find someone to travel with me.

and when todd posted that he would be willing to help me, i emailed the owner who said they had someone else who was interested in the washer & was picking it up the next day. but if the other person didn't show up, they would let me know & wait a week for me to let todd know to pick it up. unfortunately, the other person did show up for the washer. which the owner said was a needy family that really needed a washer.

i emailed the owner back & said i was happy that the washer went to a family that was going to keep using the machine, instead of it being taken to the dump or a recycling center. and that i was glad to know that the washer went to someone who really needed it. so, even though i didn't get it, there is still a happy ending to the machines destiny. and plus, i got to meet another really nice member & make a friend from here, todd!!! :o)

so, all's well, that ends well!!!
;o)

For those of us late to the party.... what WAS this machine?   From the "Maytag man" reference I can only assume it was a Maytag, but a Maytag what... since no one listed any specifics?

Oh no, now I'm going to get into trouble for not posting the link correctly...it appeared to be a TOL Maytag with the back lit console.

That is the very truck my neighbors, the Earnshaws, had for their upholstering business, only not the distinguised paint job. Keep it running, Ralph !

Thanks Todd and Dave for the info.

Todd I sure you posted the link correctly, but as the machine is now gone / no longer available, the ad has been deleted.

This is why I post a photo from the ad, so after it's been deleted "we" can still see what was being offered (for the archives).

Danemodsandy was kind enough to explain how to properly post these things and I should have written it down. Please forgive me -- I'm technologically challenged!
