Hi guys,

Some of you may remember that I used to own a HMDL 3314L about 3 years ago. You can probably recall how fond I was of that machine yet it had many issues that would eventually force me to strip it and look elsewhere.

Eventually in November after those 3 years had passed, I got an email from a nice guy who lived about 2 hours away from me informing me that he had a 3314L that he was using daily but had to replace with a Hotpoint 9404 because the pump had failed (as per usual on Hoovermatics). He offered it to me along with a Hoover Turbopower and with some patience I received both items about a month ago.

The Turbopower was seen to first, then the 427 cylinder arrived unexpectedly the following weekend so after those were sorted the 3314L was given the chance of a better life.

Made in January 1975 this machine is in MUCH better condition than my first! The paintwork was great and the structure was not half rotting away like the other one. Out came the old pump and a replacement I got from Mathew a few years back was fitted. The spinner was treated to a new belt, tensioned and the can was correctly centered. Both sump hoses were replaced and since the spinner was missing it's suppressor I fitted a new one taken from the Soft Wave. You will see that it is fitted near the top. This arrangement has worked for me before on my Spinarinse so when you can find those little ones for the spinner just use the big ones. She is now running great and I am so happy to be using one of these models again they really are a classic.

Without delay here are a few pictures of my 3314L.

James.

Much better condition than the original 3314L that you had. Good that that machine was able to surrender parts and, when combined with the bits and bobs you got from Mathew, should provide you with a good spares supply.

Machine looks great - happy Hoovermaticking!
Paul
