I was able to pick up for free a neighbors Maytag LA8340 Washer with matching dryer for free. What years did they make this washer? Any info is greatly appreciated.

I'm not a Maytag expert, but is seems like you may be missing one digit in the model number. I have a LAT8624 that was made in Dec 1995. I think one of the guys will need the serial number to narrow down the manufacturing date. Pictures are nice too

It's very early 1990s.  An LA8340 would have been an almond, standard capacity (16-gal.) 2-speed machine manufactured between July 1990 and Dec. of 1991.

An LAT8340xxx would have been the same featured machine built between Jan. 1992 and the Fall of 1993 when the "Dependable Care" line was introduced.  If it were LAT8340AAA it would have been almond with a black console, if it were LAT8340AAW it would be white with a black console and if it were LAT8340 AAE it would have been white with a white console.

I finally pulled out the lint filter as I think it had never been removed for cleaning? Any thoughts on a good way to clean the hard water / detergent build up? The holes are solid with crud.
