Why does it seem most guys in here prefer the KD-17/18 model dishwashers compared to the KDS/21 like I have? Some folks in here even like the KD 16 with only one wash-arm in it which I would not know how to load. I have never used or seen a KD-17/18 are they more powerful than the my KDS-21.I know they have the same Hobart 1/2 H.P. Motor in it but the pump system is different there is no grinder in it but maybe they did not need them really. I grew up with a Maytag Reverse Rack a 85/86 model and it did not have a grinder in it but it washed like hell also the loudest dishwasher I think I have ever used. It seems that folks in here prefer the 1970s Kitchenaid KD17/18 or anything and I was have always wondered why do those older ones clean better than my KDS-21?

The 17s and 18s are two entirely different series and the pump was redesigned to give adequate cleaning pressure in the 18s. The nice thing about the 17s and 18s is that they gave adequate rinsing as opposed to the 21 & newer machines |
