1956 DI-56 Imperial Dryer.  Great for winter towel drying!

Am I wrong to assume it has an illuminated backsplash? Not all that familliar with the vintage Frigidaires.

1956 was the first year to have a lighted dial, per say.  The white circular glass that has the time indexes will glow, via two C-7 bulbs illuminating behind it.

This is what the dial would look like.

So the filtrators are just fancy condensor dryers?

WELLL.

They dont use water, like a Hotpoint would ,but do condense the moisture.

Actually they are simple condenser dryers.  They were (to my knowledge) the ONLY non-water condensing dryers that were sever manufactured in the US.  Frigidaire made them from 1952-1967 with a major redesign in 1962.  The early ones were not especially speedy, but the smell and feel of towels and sheets coming out of this dryer in the winter time is OUT OF THIS WORLD.

Im not in the market to purchase another dryer, but it looked to cherry to ignore. If it's not a hoax, I'll let you guys know what happens.

Those bulbs were not positioned to be easily replaced. Maybe latex gloves put on before you start would make it easier and result in fewer cuts. That light gray porcelain is beautiful. If you don't have a Unimatic or a modern machine to spin things really dry, these take a looong time to dry.
