Looks like it was one of later models - a D&M rebadge, I think!

It's a WP made machine! I nver knew WP made Tappans. How unusual a machine might this be?

Rebadged Whirlpool. I was not aware that these were made.

Whirlpool made

Yes, for a brief period of time in the early to mid 70's Whirlpool produced Tappan dishwashers. No mechanical or cycle differences, just cosmetic. They are the only Tappan dishwashers to have been considered any good. I have a service manual for one set of models made by Whirlpool. I will see of Robert can add it into the Ephemera.

I always loved this style of door latch!

Porcelain interior?

Is the interior porcelain or what is it...looking closer, it's hard to determine if there's a start of rust....

John (combo52) mentioned WP-Tappans once here...

This appears to be a single wash-level machine, or there are crucial parts missing.  I've seen several GE built Tappans but not the WP built version until now.

I liked these handles, too, so distinctly Whirlpool and convenient to use.

Well, I'll be! I never thought that Tappan dishwashers were ever Whirlpool rebadges! What vintage would this have been, then? Early 70s perhaps?

a start of rust....

That is staining of the plastic filter.

Aside from the one level washing, this is probably the best used dishwasher you could buy for $10.00 and with a couple of changes, it could have the upper level wash arm.

We put rebadged WP Tappan DW in the custom homes we built in FL. Some where in the late 70's Tappan switched over to the DM units, that was not popular for our buyers. We were already putting in TOL double oven Tappan ranges, some with MW on top. The quality was not great.
