from a life of mediocrity, living out my existence in a basement of a rental home. This washer will make a nice addition to any collection, or a nice start to a collection, or even a great daily driver. Untested, but can't be much, if anything wrong. Best part, AW members, it's *FREE*, yes, that's right, *FREE*! ☺You come get it, or figure out a way to aquire it, and it's yours. If not, I'll get it going, and put it on the sales floor.
Nice clean tub, no rust or any other issues. Looks to be a low mileage machine to me. Let me know in the next few days. |

But do you have a dryer to match? It doesn't have to be an exact match as far as numbers go. I am in Michigan but I could drive to South Bend. |

That is a very good machine; I owned one as my first Maytag washer. It will do everything the more expensive models can do.
You might like to know that you are correct in saying that a dryer would not have to be the same model series as the washer. Maytag styled its line so that most washers and dryers matched, even if their model numbers didn't. That first Maytag of mine was paired with a 606 dryer, much higher up in the line, and they matched just fine. They're pictured below. The only exceptions to this back then were the 906 all-pushbutton models, and the 806 lighted-console models. For those, you do need the same model series if you want a true match. |

Since this thread has been quiet for a while, I wanted to check in and see if hopefully you're still thinking about this Maytag.
I know there's no dryer, but one of our dirty little secrets around here is that not all the beautiful matching sets you see on the site were found that way. My A806 washer came from a collector here in town, and my DE806 dryer from one in Minneapolis. If you'll get the washer, you would be amazed how fast a dryer will turn up! |
