Those wacky Canadians sure have a funny way of spelling Speed Queen!

I stayed at a Country Inn & Suites while in Chicago the past four days and this was the washer in the guest laundry. It was mismatched with an electric GE dryer.

The obligatory money shot: No stainless steel tub!

I'm pleased to report the Huebsch featured a traditional rinse cycle.

Here's the GE dryer with which it was paired. It is actually white; the photo was shot without a flash.

I've never seen a SQ type Commercial machine with a porcelain tub before. Only some Amana home models. Thanks for posting.

Nick-- I was surprised by the dark porcelain tub, too. Wonder why a Huebsch rather than the US-sold Speed Queen was installed?

Huebsch.

Was originally a US company that made dryers. In fact all of Alliance's large commercial dryers are a Huebsch product.

For years you would see dryers in Laundromats and commercial settings called "Huebsch Originators". This was shortened to Huebsch when Alliance took things over IIRC and Huebsch was already building dryers for SQ and Unimac while they were Raytheon brands.

IIRC the reason only the Huebsch name is available in Canada is a licensing issue with Whirlpool to use the SQ brandmark up there. However they can sell the machines under both names in the US. I am 90% sure this is the story behind it. If I missed something or got something wrong I'm sure someone here will correct me.

As far as why the Huebsch name here. I would guess it comes down to which name the local distributor carries and or is promoting.

Enjoy our 1st warm day here in MN. WE HAVE CERTAINLY EARNED IT!

My Speed Queen (raytheon) have a dark porcelanized tub like that, even though agitator cap and basket ring are different...
