Hi everyone.

I need help with my Miele Deluxe electronic W731.

The machine has started making a knocking noise on the start on spin and on spin. I have checked the bearings and no movement in the drum. I wondered if it could be the shock absorbers.

Also, are they easy to replace.

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul

I've not even had the back off my 756 so not much help but it sounds like it could be the suspension. I've not been able to use my machine as it was too heavy to manoeuvre to the kitchen and it's now in storage until I move.

I'm not even aware of any service information floating about for these machines from earlier posts but if some does turn up I'd be up for a copy.

Hope you get it sorted
Steve

Hi Steve

I have been on a few sites such as WhitegoodsUK. The outer tub does have a lot of movement. The problem with the machine is access. The top removes and the front opens like a door, but very hard to get to the shock absorbers. I believe to get to the shocks is from underneath the machine, and as it is very heavy going to be a hard job, lol.

The machine looks like new and everything else is in good working order.

Paul

Are there signs the drum hits the doorglass? You can often tell by a ring of damage on the doorglass when the shockabsorbers are gone.

Hi Louis.

Yes the drum has hit the glass a bit. You can also bounce the outer tub as there seems to be a lot of play.

Its going to be a pain to replace as the machine is very heavy to move.

My regular repairman did it. i can't remember how he did it anymore, but he was quite quick with it. but it was not the first time he did it!

Hi

I have been looking on line to find the shock absorbers. To buy miele shock absorbers are very expensive. Ebay have them on but not genuine part.

If I can buy the parts for a reasonable price then I Will be happy.

Well I managed to buy the shock absorbers off ebay for £39.99. I fitted them this morning and the machine is running great. Very smooth and quiet. For a machine from 1986 she is looking like new and has quick wash cycles.

Very happy now

Paul

Hi Louis.

I searched on a few sites such as diynot.com, washerhelp, whitegoodsuk. I placed the machine on its right hand side resting on a tool box so I could change the left hand shock absorber using a 13mm spanner, then I placed the machine on its left hand side to change the right hand shock absorber. It was very awkward to undo the nut and limited space, but managed to change them both.

I went on espares website and could of bought genuine miele shocks, but at £155 per shock it would of been very expensive. The ones I have put on are not genuine miele ones, but do the job well.

The machine is up and running and very smooth. Hoping I get a few more years out of her.

Paul

I guess my schockabsorbers were no original Miele parts either, the total cost of the repair was much less.

Great job done, it's a machine worth saving!
