is definitely an A806. you can see the glare of the glass panel on the upper have of the control panel. and plus, all of them wash speed, wash/rinse temp buttons, and what looks like 4 water level selection buttons.
$25, that is a great price, but the seller can't guarantee if it will work. too bad it wasn't closer. oh well..... LOL thanks for posting. i enjoyed seeing it & checking it out ;oD | ||

Yes that is indeed a 24" KM from that period. I believe these models started in approximately 1967. There was a three cycle, two speed, five temp version, and a lesser model with the same three cycles, but only single speed and no level adjustment. I have one of each, the lower end model is nearly pristine, courtesy of our man in Reno, Andy, and the other I got as a trade-in back in 1991. These machines had the last of the black bakelite straight vane agitators, blue baskets, etc. Sears sold these models for a number of years, but the '68s came out with the tan color we see on the console here, whereas the '67s had white panels. You have one with the tan console, am I right John? This was a very common control panel for 24" models for a long time. In addition to the models I mentioned above, there were a couple other 1967 models which had a single solenoid water valve. The last of this panel style were issued in 1972 and 1974 which by then used the big chrome knobs that Sears used in the 1970-1974 time frame, and some had a blue/gray and white paint scheme on the console instead of the all white or all tan.  Our next door neighbors had a '60s Philco laundry pair in yellow (with charcoal control panels) and their dryer did have a real window. After a while it began to chirp in a sort of rhythmic, sing-song fashion and I could hear it running from across their yard, as my room faced their service porch.
The "#3" dryer in the OP looks like a very basic model, and it also looks pretty stupid without a window. | ||

I like that Kenmore - with the knobs on each side of the center dial, offset to the right and the design background with Kenmore written nearer the lid area - very interesting how they designed these machines, but your 100, Gordon, is cool as well - that opening for the clothes - is that oblong or distorted only in photo - not a round opening, maybe?

It looks so much better in your photos and I like it even more now. The one in the photo has a green top - looks like the old linoleum? I like yours better - man, Drew, I can't get over how beautifully new looking it is.
New appliances put me to sleep even if they may be engineered better (if you find the right one) - I like that panel design - smaller profile types and the slightly larger ones, as well. | ||

Appears to be painted and ...
Do you think it's missing a lower front panel, way down below in the front near the floor-looks shorter in the front panel compared to yours?
The front door may be just open slightly, but your unit has a tight looking fit on the side where the door meets the right side front edges. Also, the seller's unit's top definitely looks painted, not replaced with formica or other. Yuk! I'd have to strip that off and deal with whatever's hiding underneath. Yours wins the beauty contest, anyways.

Two Avocado KA Portable DWs
Hi Phil, and I will also add my thanks for all the appliances you post, keep up the great work.
These two KAs are different models, the one you found is a less expensive machine than Andy's, so it is missing the side trims and lower trim on the lower panel. It also does not have the wood top of Andy's and even though the top does not look good in the picture it should be a real Porcelain top and at certain angles Porcelain has a orange peel type of look which might be what we are seeing in the photo. That cute little Whirlpool Convertible washer in post# 28 is an early version that spins at 936 RPMs, it should be an LAC4900W, it even has the cute chrome agitator cap, it should be a 1974-5 vintage machine. | ||

Hi Phil,
I hadn't seen your question about the lid openings right away, SO SORRY for that. The lid openings in full-size WP washers, even the DD models to a lesser extent, always had a non-round opening. They are more of a D-shape, which in the belt-drives was necessary to create enough space for the console behind. What you were seeing was not an illusion in the picture. Not only is the opening in the top D-shaped, but the tub ring is D-shaped as well. The DDs have this too, to a lesser amount. The top has a softened D-shape, but the tub ring is round, or nearly so. Gordon I was laughing at my postings...buried in China below, how people find those postings let alone the comments. That's actually interesting, that it's not round ...would have never guessed. Just amazing how manufacturers once had so many variations, whether to their good or bad detriments, at one time. Where do you see a D shape opening for a washer or dryer today? Now I know form follows function, and this proves it again. And I appreciate the education. I might graduate from Washer Lid and Opening Designs, one day. :^D

This might be upside down - looks vintage old in nice condition:
1) Air Conditioner - $15 (Grandville/Grand Rapids) - grandrapids.craigslist.org/hsh/44... 2) GE air conditioner..high BTU - $150 (rockford) - rockford.craigslist.org/app/44222... ad: " here is a super nice vintage GE General Electric high BTU air conditioner...I bought this last year from the original owners and they bought it new and hardly used it because his wife wanted Central and they got it so this got stored..Its in excellent condition and Cranks out the cold air.I think its likean 8 or 10k btu and that's REAL BTUs..not the junky ones they make the last 10 years or more..It was in the original box when I got it but it got ruined in the garage due to water but I had the unit in my basement...you simply cant find these very high quality USA made unites..so act fast and be ready for the heat,Its just around the corner..If interested please contact me at ..." 3) Vintage Classic Westinghouse Air Conditioner - $35 (Clarence) - buffalo.craigslist.org/app/441850...
