New Kitchenaid KDS-18 Dishwasher & Trashcompacter |

 I found a new Kds-18 dishwasher and matching trash compacter and bought them both.. These were in a mother in law suite in Stonehenge which is where the uber rich live. This dishwasher still has the stickers in the door on the inside. The tested it before they had the place redone.This mother in law suite is 2500 sq feet the main house is over 8000Sq ft.. The only bad thing is the panel for the dishwasher blew off on the interstate and busted in a million pieces, I guess if a car hit it I will be hearing soon I did not notice till I was home. The dishwasher hoses are so new they have white powder on them its like they spent all this money in the 70s and sealed it up. I have never seen a Hobart Kitchenaid Trash compacter until now ,one thing I can say is that they are F%*(%&% heavy and I mean heavy.Its beautiful but huge also this is bigger than most this is the size of old Vikings... I can't believe that these have been tested and that is it..They would throw away things like this considering they had 50grand worth of cooking things that are outside in the pool area that were brand new.

Your right I am wrong and mad that I did not recognize that.It is not a 18 because there is a space in between the buttons.. These older 18-20 are so close to each other in the way they look and I was not expecting to find these at all. Oh well it is new that I know you can tell.They tested it before they took it out after sitting there for 35+ years in a time capsule of a house.... I don't know what it is I sliced my finger wide open on that trash compacter and there at my house that is getting close to finish.. I will go over there tomorrow and find out for sure.I do know it's a Superba and it's fascinating to see the hoses on this thing still have that powder that is on the black drain hoses and are still rubber and other things no dust or anything. | ||

The KDS18/58 series have rounded indicator lights, angled edges on the sides of the brass-color part of the control panel but the brass-colored part isn't taller in the center than on the sides.
Here's a closer view at the details on the control panel. Note how "HOBART" is written, and as you noticed, the pushbuttons are grouped rather than separate. There's an "energy saver button on the right but it doesn't say "Energy Saver IV" on the left.

Yep your right it has to be a 20 also..I did see the bottom of it I looked for a long time we all did because we could not believe that somebody would never use them.I did see that it does have a heater in the blower so it is a KDS-20 .. I have never used one of these and was not planing on getting it but it was there and I was not going to let that go. I did not have enough time to take pics I was bleeding so bad I thought I was going to need stitches the top of the compacter is so sharp I did not feel the cut and so heavy... I have 3 dishwashers now, I need to figure which one I am going to keep. I have been up sense Friday Morning one of those great things the Epilepsy does to me at times insomnia. I can't wait to see how this thing cleans compared to my 1984 KDS-21 Superba.. Folks here all tell me the older ones out cleaned those and they are great cleaners... | ||

He was talking about a Hobart made Kitchenaid Trash compactor.The ones today are made by Whirlpool and are nothing like the Hobart made ones..Whirlpool sold the patents to the Kitchenaid disposer's and the Trash compacter to Viking Appliances years ago.I have never had a Hobart made Kitchenaid Trash compactor or ever even seen one until now. Whirlpool Trash compactor I don't like at all because it only has 2300 pounds of force. We have a 5 year old Broan at the our farm which is 5000 pounds and makes a huge difference... My Hobart made Kitchenaid has 3000 pounds of force from what I have read.. | ||

Just like the K/A compactor at my daughter's best friend's house! (Only no wood grain applique!)
It must'a out-lasted the rest of the appliances from the "back in the day" it's from; everything else is Sub-Zero (Fridge), Samsung (the "modern day answer to Slant Front Westys" washer & dryer) and Bosch (the gas range w/ electric convection oven & dishwasher)...! -- Dave | ||
