Well tonight i picked up my 80s servis quartz washer! i've only had it runnin about 30mins its abit late to be running it in my garage. So far i tried out the rinse/spin option to clear it out. the rinse was high up the door & the spin from distribution straight up to 1000rpm which i was very pleased with. i then began to run a synthetic cycle. the drum is the "spincare" type. basically the 80s version of a honeycomb drum. no holes in it! the tumbles are faster than normal. which makes for splashy fun so far im thrilled to bits to finally own a machine i grew up with, my parents friends had a similiar model & i spent many weekends watching it. so to finally get my hands on one makes me extremely pleased. heres a pic with more & videos to follow. Well done Darren Nothing like that feeling getting the machine you want, I`m sure you will get much pleasure out of this one!!! This is the same machine as the original Quartz, the model 600, just with updated fascia & full width door, it also came with a full door to take colour panels etc. Try the special "Multi-Fabric Wash & let us know what you think, but remember "Only with Ariel" Happy washing, Mike p.s. I`m sure now you will be able to convince Jon about the benefits of "Washing with Servis"...LOL |

HoneyComb has tiny holes. But your FL has "no holes in it". Sound strange. |

Great machine darren, one of my ultimate dream machines, i assume from the pic that it has one of those big doors that is actually the whole front of the machine. Good luck with it and can't wait to see pics and video. Matt Now, Lavamat Jons pc is not letting him post so i'm posting for him, he says its great and it sounded great on the phone and he apologizes for his computer being such an a$$ Take care, Matt (and Jon) |

The spincare drum was developed for the new Servis Quartz model 600 in 1981, Servis developed this model after working extensively with Proctor & Gamble, i.e. A New Machine, New Powder (Ariel)for the era etc... There are vanes in the back & front of the drum and this is where the water enters and is spun out, the drum is also shaped, it has a ridge in the middle. It also has a slightly faster wash speed , about 60rpm, and has high water levels which give it a very splashy action. This was a World First, as Servis had developed Quartz microchips from their first computer controlled machine the "Servis Selectronic" back in 1977. The Servis company as was reminds me of being very similar to Maytag, solid expensive machines, built from a manufacturing experience and having a very loyal customer base.... |

Are these openings for entry/exit of water? Are these shadows? Should this part be a smooth surface? |

Hey Guys, Jon:p- You're in for a treat when you come over today,. i have about 7 loads to do! servis style of course:p CleanteamofNY- the door is on a button release & unlike any other machine i've seen the full panel of the door opens! unique thing that servis used to do. the7- those are the water entry/exit points. theres a set around the front too...& the shadowing is the design of the drum so the water drains out! its all very clever:D westytoploader- thanks for the comments, its about 1986 i think....dont quote me on that im still tryin to find a year & a spinspeed lol. though im pretty sure thats 1000rpm the tumbles are really cool with them being that little bit faster at 60rpm. very splashy when full amount of waters used! will have pics & videos from todays loads later on Darren |

COOL WASH When selected with any main programme, will reduce the temp to 30d only, and increases the washtime by 4 times the programme length....Its an economy wash for use with cool water detergents and wash load not to heavily soiled... "BIO" BIOLOGICAL WASH This option is designed for use with Ariel Automatic & Bold 3. The heating process is in two stages, Stage 1: 10 min gentle wash up to 30d, and held for ten mins. Stage 2: Staged heating up to programme temp, use with all programmes except woolens. Basically the first profile wash. Cheers, Mike |

Hi Darren Yes its designed as an economy wash, will start a gentle wash at 30d followed by a "SOAK" n "Tumble" which lasts 4 hrs, there are 3 ways to use this: 1. Washing a mixed load of lightly soiled clothes at low temp. 2. As a Super Pre-Wash. 3. As an Economy Wash with a low temp main wash programme. ie, instead of whites 95, you do the multi fabric as a pre-wash and then a 40d wash... These machines do tend to be stable. Does this model go straight up to 1000rpm into the final spin at the end?? |

Hi Steven Yours is the 1300 Washer Dryer isnt it?? Check the wiring loom particularly near the heater box, there was a retro fit on these machines as there wasnt a lot of play within the wiring harness, and some wires where breaking and shorting with the stress, particularly if its been moved without the transit brackets etc.. Darren What makes these machines sturdier than Hoovers etc is that the tub shocks are mounted to a rigid base. You can actually take the cabinet away and leave the drum mounted on the base, like the ASKO. |

Hey Hey, Sparkcymru: I had a similar experience with my hoover newwave washer/dryer. kept sendin me into darkness turned out it was the heating element on the dryer causing that...of which i need a new one. only problem i have now is it wont hit 1300...so i call it a hoover newwave 800 lol. Mike!-Thanks for explaining that mike. that would explain why it balances perfectly pretty much everytime! i mean my hoover logic is really sturdy. But you'd think the quartz has a balance sensor the way it spins..very similar amount of vibration as my AEG 74640! Also Is my quartz suppost to flash the wash light when its soaking on multi fabric? i thought it was broken! sent me into a panick lol! nickuk!- hey thanks for the comments, heres hopin it doesnt give me any grief too! *touch wood* its gonna be fine. only thing is on the 2nd rinse of my whites load yesterday it decided it wanted to leak a little. didnt do it again though. what machine(s) do you have nick? Darren |

Hi Darren Codes are: F1 = Water Temp Circuit Faulty F2 = Machine Takes Too Long To Fill, Check taps on fully, check hoses are not kinked, house pressure may be too low. F3 = Not Pumped Water Out, Faulty pump or outlet hose kinked F4 - Motor running too fast or slow, press cancel and hold to pump water out. F5 & 6 = Faulty Heater Circuit Sounds like its not able to fill, what programme did you have it on?? Do you have both hoses connected, even with a Y piece if its cold fill?? Mike |

Mike,
Were there any Quartz 1/2 panels with 1300RPM? According to my brochure, all the Quartz piano key models, like ZodaWash's ex Quartz, now mine, were 04KG, 1000RPM models. The only 03 models I know of that were 1300RPM models were the Sapphire AutoWash 6055, the AutoSelect 6065 & the Washer Dryer 9635, like mine. CJ |
