Well after a bit of rearranging yesterday I've got my grams old JCPenney Dryer out and placed in the laundry lineup.

Does anyone here know how to decode the serial number to give a manufacture year?

If you are lucky, it's just the lid switch.

Penny's / GE

Most of Penny's appliances were manufactured by GE. I had a 1978 Penny's microwave that was for sure GE, from the angled door front it had. GE also uses a 2 letter identifier at the front of the serial number. IF...this can translate across, that dryer was made in July of 1977, which would put it in the time frame that Pennys was selling appliances.

Hi Sam,

That's a neat looking dryer. I remember these in the stores in the late 1970s.

We'll get your Lady K back up and running when you're ready! I like that it still has the 'Features at a Glance' sticker on it.
