Those Amanas....

look better in white. Always liked the door pulls on those. That thing would be very cool in white or Poppy.

The Door Pulls....

Are what "send" me. They are very good-looking machines in White, true.

There's another styling feature this Avocado one doesn't have, and if I ever find my dream Amana, it will have it. It's a pair of embossed anodized aluminum strips, one across the bottom of the freezer door front, and the other across the top of the fridge door front. These strips were from the first iteration of this design, in the early through the mid-'70s; later machines have first a pair of woodgrain strips, then no strips at all. A photo of an Avocado machine with the strips is below, as well as a close-up of the strip. How Mediterranean-'70s can you get?

Kenny, thanks for keeping those eyes of yours peeled! We'll find it. Even if you're not the one who actually turns it up, your mojo will have been a huge influence as far as I'm concerned.

trim strips...

I remember those well. In fact, if you are on the hunt for one of these in white...I recently saw one here in Phoenix but cannot recall if it was right or left hinge door. Let me know. I'll go have a look again tomorrow.

You're Very Kind....

But Phoenix would be a real schlep from Iowa, particularly for a fridge.

If it's something you're going to be around anyway, and you get a chance to take a photo, it would be great to see one.

Thanks!

Schlepping is sometimes worth it...

especially if you have a forum buddy who is making the trip anyway! Well, if the Amana is still there, I will def. snap some pix for you. Cannot remember what the price was...but I know it was sub $75. Might've been $50. If it turns out to be in good serviceable shape and you *have* to have it, there may be a way to work it out. You never know!

What can a photo hurt?

As you say, something could work out.

Thanks!

You got it--

Here's hoping it is still there. Seems to be a lot of vintage appliance hunters in this city so no promises--but could luck out :D

Not even a photo. Oh, well.

Thanks very much for going to look; that took time from your day, and I really appreciate your doing that.

The search continues.
