Yes, Way Too Expensive

Tim,

I agree. I get calls for 1-18s all the time. They are quite common in this area, especially MOL models. When Jimmy and I went upstate New York two years ago, that supplier had 8 washers and 4 dryers heading off to the krusher. We took the knobs, lint filters, agitator caps and bleach cups. I have two sets of lighted console custom imperials, one poppy MOL, one harvest gold MOL, one avocado MOL, and the WEG programmed washer. You don't see the BOL models much and I have NEVER seen a 1-18 with the sudsaver. Jimmy, have you ever seen a 1-18 with the sudsaver?

If you want a 1-18, let's talk. So who DID get the washer?

Rich

There is a cut out in the back of the 1-18s for the installation of a SudsSaver, but I have NEVER seen one inperson on a washer. I have some of the service repair manuals that show it and its installation. Considering all the 1-18s that you and I have come across Rich, a SudsSaver on one must be extremely rare..........

And Come to Think About It....

Jimmy, when you bought all the NOS Frigidaire and GE parts that time you took me with you, that guy also had sudsavers for unimatics and rollermatics....but there weren't any for the 1-18s in there either, were there?

And to think all I've been really hunting for are the 2 grey rings and grey soap dispenser cap for my WI-56. I think I'm on a mission for a 1-18 with a sudsaver now!

And speaking of 1-18s, remember this beauty you gave me......

Frigidaire in Pittsburgh?

neptunebob's profile picture
Train Guy, were there actually a lot of Frigidaires sold in our area? I only saw Westinghouse and Sears Kenmore when I was growing up. Nep

This is Frigidaire Heaven

Nep,

All the towns around here had a Frigidaire dealer:

Sprowls in Claysville
Andaloro's in Fairbank/Republic/Brownsville
Baker & Kincaid and Metzler's in Uniontown
Dormont Apliance in Dormont
Dukis in Canonsburg

And in Connellsville and Greensburg, there were department stores that sold Frigidaire exclusively.

Yes, Rich I sure remember that washer! It belonged to a person I worked with at Lockheed and I had serviced it for many many years. I had remembered they shoved it in a corner of their basement but had unfortunately thrown the matching dryer away years before. It sure does look pretty in the pics! Does it still work and do you use it?

Just Like Your Tires.......

Jimmy, I rotate washers around every month or so. I am using this poppy 1-18 every day. What a routine......I wash in this washer (thanks again for it), extra spin in either the '56 uni or '67 rapidry 1000, and dry in either the '56, '58, or '65 Filtrator.

Greg, thanks for really turning me on to those Filtrators. There's nothing like the feel of clothes done in one. The '58 gives off some heat, while the other two don't give off much heat into the room at all. I still have 6 more to either restore or give away. How I ever ended up with 3-'55 Filtrators is beyond me.
