Uncommon to see these now--I used to have one just like it. Great fridge!

That Is....

The Emergency! fridge, seen in the kitchen of Station 51. Same color, everything.

You really should go get it, Allen! If I found one of those in White within a reasonable distance of me, I would think I had died and gone to Heaven. Especially at that price.

That was a premium fridge back in the day, very expensive and desirable.

I don't know if this box would have the problem, but

Amana had a lot of trouble with their shell condensers. In an attempt to save electricity used by the strip heaters on the front edges of the cabinets, Amana used the warm gas carrying tubes of the condensers to warm these areas. It was laudable at first thought, but it was always heating the cabinet whether or not the humidity was high enough to call for the extra heat (unlike the switches incorporated to switch off the strip heaters in low humidity situations) and that extra heat was inside the cabinet, gradually leaking through the insulation into the cooled areas instead of being blown away by a fan-forced external condenser. Many of the condensers failed resulting in these boxes having to be scrapped early in life because they could not be fixed. I think Jeff replaced the whole condenser circuit with a condenser he hung on the back of a box, but I am not sure if it was an Amana.
