I posted questions about a month ago on my Easy Spindrier. THANKS so much for all who helped. Who knew hot water would work magic. My washer was so gummed up it was hard to get it all lose but finally! The only problem I'm having now is the wash tub takes forever to drain, about 1/2 hour and I think that's too long. Is there a way to remove the agitator? I think the drain hole must be plugged. I've tried to pull straight up but no luck. Thanks for your time. JOAN

I know we have Easy fans and experts here, but meanwhile you may want to see what you can find via the Super Searchalator.

Joan,
I am not an expert on Easy machines but I know that there are different methods in removing agitators from the inside of different machines.
With some you do just pull up from the bottom of the agitator to take it out. On other models of washers you have to unscrew the cap off the top of the agitator before you can remove it. You may want to check to see if the top of the agitator unscrews by grabbing ahold of the one of the agitator fins then try to see if the top unscrews which would then allow you to lift the agitator up. It's not a guaranteed shot but it is something you could possibly try to get it off.
Good luck,

Rick

It's been a VERY long time-- Interstate highways hadn't been invented yet-- but the knob on the top should unscrew then the agi lifts up. Of course the machine was new back then and not beset by a lifetime of mineral deposits, one of our genuine restorers (not which I'm) can suggest dealing with that. Can say, vinegar takes lime off showerheads and can't hurt to try. Hot vinegar works faster.

I have an Easy . . .

. . . Spindry. The agitator is a black spiral. On the top of the agitator is a silver colored cap with an "E" on it. This cap screws off of the agitator and then I just lift straight up to remove the spiral. If the spiral is stuck, I'd try pouring some penetrating oil or some CR2 or whatever that stuff is that removes stains from coffee cups or scale from shower heads. Give it time to penetrate and then try lifting again.

Really hot water may help as well.

Good luck!!! They are fun machines to use.

HI, What Jerry says is good advice. Make sure the cap is unscrewed from the agitator and then pull up. If that doesn't work, DON'T bang around on the top of it with a hammer etc. It could be bakelite and crack and be ruined. You'll get it. Gary
