Hey can one of the maytag guys or gals tell me about a Maytag a5000 washer as to age and if its worth keeping? I help out at a local charity thrift shop and this came in and mngr was scared of it do to being left on porch and was around 20 outside. we pluged her in and some ice fell out of drain hose and then i got it for 5 bucks. I think the lid switch needs replaced and may put on new water valve as the hoses were rusted on and it might be striped out. Thanks for any info

Maytag LAT5000AAW

I have/had a Maytag LAT5000AAW which I believe was from 1993. Overall very good machine although quite simple having single speed, three water temps and two load sizes. Only getting rid of it due to recent purchase of a 606 harvest gold maytag set from 1972 and not having room for a collection. A friend is taking the LAT5000AAW Mayatg for use in his garage.

This link may help you with the age of your A5000. All you need is the serial number.

Jim

Thanks for the info. I thought it might have been older. I am going to use this for a rental unit for a replacement for a kenmore d/d is making a ticking noise and the as it agitates the overhead light flickers. I have also gotten a brown 2 speed maytag that is in fair shape to tinker with

Glad I could help

Hope it works out well for the rental unit. What model is the brown Maytag?
