Meet Markus, he's handsome, rugged, smart and dependable.

Today was towel washing day, and Markus was up against one heck of a challenge as you'll see. Do Miele really live up to their slogan of Forever Better?

Not a huge load, but grubby. I assure you we are not dirty people! But I admit, our towels are disgusting!

The cleaning arsenal, pre-treat spray, Ariel acti-lift and Astonish oxi powder

Kitchen hand towels, dad does manual work, which is why these are so grubby.

Some kind of food stain, looks like tomato sauce.

Coffee stained towel, feet+coffee+carpet= disaster

Mum's facial cloth. God knows what ointments are on this

Bath towels. Recent hot weather has meant more showering than usual, and unfortunately more grot!

Cottons 60 on Water plus and two hours later and we have the results.

Bath towels:

There were two of these small white towels, I am unsure which one was coffee stained

The five kitchen towels. Results speak for themselves

For a time we stopped using these towels, as the Hotpoint just didn't budge the stains.
Markus has no trouble though

Final post, the face cloth. No surprises, spotless.

Markus handled the challenge with aplomb, Miele machines may cost more, but worth their weight in gold. Can't imagine going back to anything else.

I think Immer Besser is correct

While I'm in no way disputing miele as they are built to last. All my towels are pure white and so are my tea towels and my Beko gets the same results with the need for additional chemicals. Just a scoop of Persil bio a quick 60degree wash and back to white again

I do my towels on a 60*c every week and I boil them once a month, I like Mieles but I love my Bosch, Beko and Zanussi machines

I once knew a Markus in Germany that was both rugged and handsome...:-) Just FYI "Immer besser" means "always better" not "forever better". :-)

Well, actually...

It could mean both. Forever like nobody can get better than Miele, ever. Always in terms of „No matter what we do, we are better!". At least, that is what a real German thinks ;)
I know lots of Markuses, but all seem somewhat fragile...

Right, I understood it correctly, but strictly speaking, "immer" means always, as opposed to "Für immer" or "ewig", which definitely mean "forever". You are correct in saying that the slogan "Immer besser" implies that Miele is always better, no matter in what regard.

If you want to see some damned hot Markuses, you should go to the Allgäu. There are lots of them, on the other hand, most of the Wolfgangs I knew were on the fragile side, it seems.

Always better, forever better, they're both fitting. I'm amazed no one has twigged as to why we call it Markus. Come on Miele fans!

Immer Besser.....

"The Miele Company has a long and rich history of high quality engineering. “Immer Besser” or "Forever Better" was established early as the company motto and stands for a commitment to the highest quality standards, longevity and improvement; both in production and business practices. This philosophy is as relevant today as it was over 113 years ago.

Founded in 1899 by a farmers son, Carl Miele, and a salesman, Reinhard Zinkann, The Miele Company is still independently owned and managed by the Miele and Zinkann families. With global headquarters in Gutersloh, Germany, Miele is a world leader in the production of premium domestic and commercial appliances. There are 8 production plants in Germany and also plants in Austria, the Czech Republic, Romania and China. Miele has its own wholly owned sales subsidiaries in 47 countries and is represented in a further 48 by distribution partners. Company turnover now exceeds €3bn."

With that amount of chemicals, any machine should have shifted those stains! Personally, I wouldn't have bothered with the stain removers and just done a long 60 cycle with the bio powder.

Although neither of us have manual jobs, my other half is an exceptional but messy cook and uses our tea towels for some horrific jobs (like drying out courgette's to make fritters with, as he did last week). I've never had a problem with any stains not coming out with just a decent bio powder.

Whilst I agree, the Miele is an exceptional machine, I was more than happy with my partners Beko that we were using for a short time when we first moved in together. We only kept the Miele as it's still under warranty. Whilst I do love my machine, I don't think it's essential to buy a Miele just to get good results. There are other brands that wash just as well. Although I completely agree with you about the Hotpoint, a lot of the newer machines spend more time soaking than they do tumbling. Classic Indesit trick.

Hi! I am Marco, i am dependable, rugged, smart and I love Miele appliances.
I do own a w1 washing machine and i must admit it washes perfectly without adding other chemicals other than the phase1 and 2 detergents.
