I lived in hard hittin' New Britain for 6 years.  I imagine there are quite a lot of vintage appliances there.  That's where I scored our '53 Motorola.  Someone had put it out with the trash; I saw it made our friend stop and loaded it into her minivan.  It still worked!

This dryer has the timer that goes up to 140 minutes so it is easily operated on 120 volts.

The owner's manual for GE dryers had interesting instructions for changing it over from 120 to 240. You had to run it for 30 minutes EMPTY on high heat to burn the lint out of the heater area and blow it out of the dryer.

That's interesting info Tom!  I'm wondering if they thought about adding that to the instruction manuals after some people experienced some problems with conversions to 240 V?!
