The colors for the picture are inverted. They did make black console version of this machine, but this is not one of them.

Un-negativization applied to the image.  :-)

But

If the photo is a negative, why isn't the dryer top black?

Looks like it was inverting the almond color to white. What a strange picture. But... It'd be cool colored dryer to have for sure!

The key was in the white spots on top of the dryer in the original photo. They looked kind of "ghostly".

OK, Here's a real one...

Ran across this ad today - Atlanta - $125.  First time I've seen one this high in the line with the black console.

IIRC in this model year, black panels were offered as an option with the almond porcelain color. There didn't seem to be a whole lot of rhyme or reason to it. I remember that I liked the black( with fine blue horizontal stripes) panels but didn't want to have almond machines. I think I have some literature on this somewhere; I'll try to find it.

A friend of mine who used to lived here had this type of panel on her washer--but I don't think it was almond because her dryer was a white Kenmore.  She got it a year or two befoe I got my white-paneled DC dryer 12/07/1994.  Hers was the next to TOL mechanical model with 2-speed combos.
