I've had this for a couple years now. I'm going to start working on it. Does anyone have a service manualfor it?

But I love those machines.

Slow spin but who cares. What a Classic.

looks to be be in pretty good shape cosmetically. Hopefully you don't have to do to much internally.

I do believe a manual for an earlier Bendix was added to the Automatic Ephemera library a while back.  It may not be the exact match to your washer, but I'll bet it will help!

It is on the Ephemera site - you should be able to get most everything you need from this book.  And there's a whole bunch of us that have restored these machines around here for any other questions that might come up.

That manual would work, even though it is for a 37 and mine is about a 47?

That's a nice looking machine and should make an interesting project. I hope you can keep us updated with photos etc.

I got the motor, transmission, and pump removed. Boy are they filthy. 60+ years of dirt and grime.

Here it is all cleaned up. Have to do a few things with the pump before reinstalling. I don't think anything is wrong with the transmission so I'm not going to mess with it.

I see when I posted the cleaned up photos, I did one before. The second is what it looks like all cleaned up. I posted them from my phone, so I apoligize for the mistake.

Also, I talked with Ross (the previous owner of the Bendix) and he said, the transmission was giving him troubles. So I guess I will be removing the transmission afterall.

Justin, I wouldn't tear into the transmission just yet.   I could be wrong, but I don't think there is much that goes wrong within it.   Check / test the solenoid to make sure it's working, then check it with the motor running and make sure the pulley speeds up.

Others more familiar with the Bendix transmissions can chime in here, but it may not be a bad idea to replace the oil in the trans.

Out of the 2 motor units, I took one apart and really cleaned it. What do you think? Looks almost new.

It's great to see you making the extra effort to clean as you go along. The before and after photos of the motors alone speak loudly of the quality of the work you're doing, and demonstrate the difference between a "good" job and an outstanding one. By the time you're finished this machine will be much the better for it.

I've always liked the look of these old Bendix washers. They really look like they mean business.

Yes, it looks like the machine has been kept in a good, dry environment as there is not much corrosion on the parts.
